In time, we switched to semi-stationary laptops, which gave us a portable gateway to the internet and allowed us to work remotely, but nonetheless had to be lugged around in a bulky shoulder bag. ![]() For years before, computers had meant big beige boxes that whirred away in our offices or studies-cumbersome machines that we interacted with using a keyboard and mouse. The smartphone revolutionised the world, spurring both a decade of innovation and the creation of a new technological paradigm. When Steve Jobs introduced the world to the iPhone in January 2007, he claimed that it would ‘revolutionise’ the industry.
